What Is the VFC Filter and Motor Housing?
The VFC filter and motor housing is a two-part aluminum assembly that forms the sampling path of a volumetric flow controlled high volume air sampler. The filter holder takes the standard 8×10 inch filter, and the motor housing carries the blower motor and locates the Venturi tube in the correct position. It is the volumetric flow counterpart of the PM10-FL-BM set used with mass flow controllers, supplied as a drop-in mechanical set rather than a complete sampler.
Why the Housing Length Matters
The motor housing is 264 mm long, shorter than the mass flow version, leaving exactly the space that the Venturi tube needs in the airflow path. Using a matched set avoids improvised spacers or cutting, keeps the internal surfaces smooth and holds the differential pressure ports where the flow is fully developed, so the manometer reading corresponds correctly to the design flow of 1.13 m3/min.
Materials and Finish
Both parts are made from aluminum. The filter holder receives a clear anodized finish for corrosion resistance and easy cleaning, and the motor housing is powder coated for abrasion and UV protection. The anodized filter holder surface also wipes down easily between sampling runs. The assembled set measures 320 x 240 x 480 mm and weighs 3.8 kgs. Electronic parts are not included, so integrators fit their own blower motor, timer and manometer.
