Blower Motor 120V / 240V for High Volume Air Sampler

Model BM-240 and BM-120 are the blower motors used in high volume air samplers, supplied as the vacuum source that pulls ambient air through the filter. The BM-240 runs on 240 V for Europe, Asia and most other markets, and the BM-120 runs on 120 V for North America and Japan. Both are Ametek motors rated 1062 to 1080 W and both mount inside the standard blower motor housing, so a station can be built or repaired without changing any other part of the sampling train.

What the Blower Motor Does in a High Volume Air Sampler

The blower motor is the vacuum source of the sampler. Mounted inside the blower motor housing, it draws ambient air through the PM10 or TSP inlet, the filter holder and the 8×10 inch filter, then discharges the air behind the housing. Because the motor sets the sampling flow, its condition determines whether a run yields a valid sample volume, which is why a spare motor is one of the first parts a monitoring team keeps on the shelf.

120 V or 240 V: Choosing the Right Version

Model BM-120 is the 120 V motor for North America and Japan, and model BM-240 is the 240 V motor for Europe, Asia and most of the rest of the world. The two versions share the same mechanical envelope, so the choice depends only on the mains voltage at the sampling site. Confirm the voltage when ordering, particularly for projects that mix stations across regions.

Carbon Brushes and Routine Maintenance

This is a brushed motor, so the carbon brushes are a wear item and should be inspected at regular intervals and replaced as they wear. Holding a set of brushes in stock is a practical precaution for remote stations, where a stopped sampler may not be noticed for several days. Beyond the brushes, little attention is needed: keep the filter holder gasket sealing, keep the airflow path clean and the motor will hold its flow.

Fitting, Packing and Lead Time

The motor weighs 2.2 kgs and measures diameter 145 x 156.85 mm. Because the housing and the motor are made as a matched set, replacing one is a straightforward part swap: open the housing, disconnect the wires, lift the old motor out, fit the new one and reconnect. Motors are supplied in a 22x21x27cm export carton under ERP number 63012-000-021 (BM-240) and 63012-000-071 (BM-120), with a lead time of 7 days and a one-year warranty on the motor.

One Motor, Two Voltage Versions for Any Market

Model BM-240 runs on 240 V and covers Europe, Asia and most of the world; model BM-120 runs on 120 V for North America and Japan. Ordering the correct version together with the sampler keeps a new station on a single purchase order and avoids a second shipment later in the project.

Ametek Motor Rated 1062-1080 W

The motor is an Ametek unit rated 1062 to 1080 W, with a body measuring diameter 145 x 156.85 mm and weighing 2.2 kgs. That combination produces the vacuum needed to draw air through an 8×10 inch filter at high volume rates, and it suits the blower motor housing used across the high volume sampling platform.

Carbon Brushes Are a Wear Item

This is a brushed motor, so the carbon brushes wear down in service and must be checked and replaced periodically. Planning for that lets a monitoring team keep brushes on the shelf and set a replacement interval, instead of losing sampling time when a station stops between visits. The 120 V and 240 V motors share the same mechanical envelope, so a repair never requires changes to another part of the train.

Drop-In Fit for the Blower Motor Housing

The motor mounts inside the blower motor housing of a high volume air sampler, where it also forms the vacuum path behind the filter holder. Housing and motor are dimensioned as a set, so a replacement motor aligns with the existing gasket and airflow path without adapters, spacers or drilling.

Factory Spares with a One-Year Motor Warranty

T4 AIR SAMPLER has manufactured air sampling hardware in Foshan since 2002 and supplies blower motors both as spares for its own platform and for OEM sampler builds. The motor ships in 7 days in a 22x21x27cm carton and carries a one-year warranty, so a failed blower can be returned to service quickly.

Which version do I need, BM-120 or BM-240?
BM-120 is the 120 V motor used in North America and Japan, and BM-240 is the 240 V motor used in Europe, Asia and most other regions. Choose the version that matches the mains voltage at your sampling site.
The BM-120 and BM-240 are brushed motors with carbon brushes. The brushes wear over time and should be replaced periodically, so we recommend keeping spares in stock. If you want a motor with no brushes to service, see the brushless blower motor BLM-240.
Each order includes the motor itself, packed in a 22x21x27cm carton. Housing, filter holder, timer and wiring are ordered separately so that you can match the parts already used on your station.
Lead time is 7 days and the motor carries a one-year warranty. Please confirm the voltage version when placing the order.
The motor mounts inside the standard blower motor housing envelope. Send us your housing drawing or the model you are running and we will confirm the fit before you order.
