What Does TSP Mean?
TSP stands for total suspended particulate. A TSP high volume air sampler is fitted with no size-selective inlet, so every airborne particle that reaches the filter is collected, including the coarse fraction that a PM10 or PM2.5 inlet would remove. The sample is taken on a standard 8×10 inch filter at high volume flow, which gives enough mass for gravimetric weighing and for subsequent chemical analysis.

How It Works in the Field
Air enters the open sampling head and passes through the 8×10 inch filter held in the TSP filter holder, which seats on the cabinet top plate. The blower motor then pulls the air through the flow measurement section and exhausts it at the base of the cabinet. Users install their own electronic parts, blower motor, timer and flow device, so the sampler can be matched to the electronics already used by the monitoring network.
