Filter Holder for PM10-LV and PM2.5 Impactor

Model PM10-FL-LV is the filter holder used in PM10 low volume and PM2.5 impactor sampling trains. It accepts a standard 47 mm filter disc on a support screen, and the two halves close on an O-ring so that no air bypasses the filter. Because it sits downstream of the impactor or cyclone, it collects the size-selected fraction and opens by hand for a fast filter change in the field.

What the Filter Holder Is

PM10-FL-LV is the filter stage of a low volume sampling train. It holds a 47 mm filter disc and a support screen, and it sits downstream of the PM2.5 impactor or cyclone, where the air has already been size-selected. The holder is machined from aluminum and clear anodized, and it measures 100x80x135 mm at a weight of 0.5 kgs.

It is supplied both as a spare part for existing stations and as a component of the low volume samplers we build, so the same holder is used whether a customer orders a complete train or replaces one part.

How the Seal Works

The holder opens into two halves. The filter disc rests on the support screen in the lower half, and when the halves close they compress an O-ring around the disc. Air can then only pass through the filter medium, not around its edge.

This detail decides whether the sample is valid. A small leak at the edge dilutes the deposit with unfiltered air and produces a mass lower than the true value, and no correction can recover it after the run. Keeping the O-ring clean and the sealing faces free of grit is the main maintenance task.

Applications

The holder is used in ambient PM10 and PM2.5 low volume monitoring, in research programmes that need a filter for chemical analysis, and in laboratory and field validation work for low-cost sensor networks. Because it accepts the standard 47 mm disc, laboratories can keep their existing filter weighing and conditioning procedures without changing equipment.

Field staff who service several stations usually carry spare support screens and O-rings so that a holder can be brought back to condition during the same visit, without a second trip.

Packing and Lead Time

Each holder is packed in a 9x9x15 cm carton and ships from stock under ERP number 98082-000-406 with a three year warranty. It is commonly ordered together with 47 mm filter paper, support screens and the impactor above it, so that a station can be equipped from a single shipment. OEM versions with alternative connections or private-label packing are quoted on request.

Sealed Against Bypass

The two halves of the holder close onto an O-ring, so every litre of sampled air has to pass through the filter medium. Air that leaks around the edge of the disc dilutes the deposit and produces a mass that is lower than the true value, and no correction can recover it after the run. A clean seal at the holder is therefore as important as the accuracy of the inlet above it.

Accepts the Standard 47 mm Filter

The holder takes the 47 mm filter disc used by low volume PM10 and PM2.5 methods, together with a support screen that keeps the disc flat under the pressure drop of the pump. Because the consumable is a standard size, buyers can source filters from any qualified supplier without changing the hardware.

Quick to Open in the Field

Filter changes are the most frequent task in a sampling programme, and the holder is designed to keep them short. The halves separate by hand, the disc lifts out, and a new disc and support screen go back in the same way. That reduces the time a technician spends at the station and the risk of disturbing the sample.

Machined and Anodized for Repeated Cleaning

At 100x80x135 mm and 0.5 kgs the holder is compact and light, and it is machined from aluminum with a clear anodized finish. The surface tolerates the repeated wiping and drying that follow a filter change, so the sealing faces stay in good condition over many sampling cycles.

Stock Item with a Three Year Warranty

The holder ships from stock under ERP number 98082-000-406 with a three year warranty. It is supplied on its own as a spare and as part of our low volume sampling trains, and OEM buyers can request modified connections, private-label packing or volume pricing.

What filter size does the holder accept?
It accepts the standard 47 mm filter disc together with a support screen. Glass fibre, quartz and PTFE discs are all used with this holder, depending on the analysis that follows.
The two halves compress an O-ring around the disc, so the sample has to pass through the medium. Inspect the O-ring and the sealing faces at every filter change and replace the O-ring if it is cut, hardened or flattened.
It is the last stage before the pump, downstream of the PM2.5 impactor or cyclone, so it collects the size-selected fraction on the 47 mm filter.
The halves separate by hand, so a change takes a few minutes including the visual check of the O-ring. No tools are required for routine work.
Yes. The holder ships from stock under ERP number 98082-000-406 with a three year warranty, and it can be ordered with filter paper and support screens in the same shipment.
