Glass Fiber Filter Paper 47 mm for Low Volume Air Sampler
Model FP-02 is a box of 100 glass fiber discs, diameter 47 mm, cut for low volume air samplers. The ultrafine glass fiber medium collects the PM10, PM2.5 or TSP fraction on the disc, and it is used together with the FPS-01 filter support screen inside the filter holder. That combination keeps the disc flat under vacuum so the effective collection area stays constant.

Why 47 mm Discs
Low volume samplers move far less air than high volume units, so they use a smaller filter to keep the deposit concentrated enough to weigh. The 47 mm disc is the size that this balance point settled on, and it is the format used by filter holders such as the PM10-FL-LV as well as by the cassette and holder assemblies fitted to most low volume sampling trains in service today.
Because the disc is small, conditioning, weighing and transport are all easier than with a full sheet, which is part of the reason low volume sampling is preferred where short sampling periods or portable equipment are involved.
Working with the FPS-01 Support Screen
The disc is placed on the FPS-01 filter support screen inside the filter holder. The screen takes the pressure difference across the filter, so the paper cannot sag into the outlet or tear at the edge of the sealing ring. A disc that deforms changes the exposed area and lets particles reach the downstream tubing, and either effect biases the result, so the support is a small part of the train that has a real influence on data quality.
Analysis After Sampling
Ultrafine glass fiber is suitable for gravimetric analysis of the collected particulate, and it is also used when the deposit is passed on for further examination. Laboratories that need a chemically inert medium for element, ion or organic work can use the PTFE membrane version of the same 47 mm format, which loads into the same holder and the same support screen.
Packing and Ordering
One box holds 100 discs, weighs 0.06 kgs and measures 14x14x3cm, so large quantities travel economically and can be consolidated on a pallet. The item is listed under ERP number 63012-000-053 with a seven day lead time. Filter paper is a consumable and therefore carries no warranty; the FPS-01 support screen and the PTFE version are ordered under their own part numbers.
The Standard Disc for Low Volume Trains
The 47 mm disc is the format used by the majority of low volume samplers and by filter holders such as the PM10-FL-LV. Because the diameter is standard, discs load straight into the holder that is already mounted on the sampler, with no adapter ring and no trimming in the field.
Used with the FPS-01 Support Screen
A 47 mm disc is thin and deforms easily when a vacuum is applied beneath it. Sitting the disc on the FPS-01 filter support screen spreads the load and stops the paper from being drawn into the downstream tubing, which keeps the exposed area stable for the whole run.
Suitable for Gravimetric and Chemical Work
Ultrafine glass fiber is a practical medium for weighing the collected mass, and it also accepts the subsequent chemical treatment steps used when the deposit is analysed further. One filter type can therefore serve both the mass measurement and the follow-up analysis that many programmes require.
100 Discs in a Small Carton
A box of 100 discs weighs only 0.06 kgs and packs into 14x14x3cm, which makes storage and air freight inexpensive. For stations that run daily sampling, one carton covers a full quarter of routine work, and the spare cartons take up almost no shelf space in the balance room.
Stock Item with a Seven Day Lead Time
The discs are listed under ERP number 63012-000-053 and ship with a seven day lead time, so a station does not run short between campaigns. As a consumable the paper carries no warranty, and volume orders for distributors are quoted on request.
