Model PM2.5-LV-CYC is a cyclone cutter that selects the PM2.5 size fraction at the head of a low volume sampling train and passes the elutriated air down to a 47 mm filter cassette. Because it separates particles by centrifugal force rather than impaction, it holds a sharper 2.5 micrometre cut point than an impactor, which matters where a well-defined cut is required. It is supplied as an SCC standard cyclone cutter or a VSCC very sharp cut cyclone cutter and is aimed at monitoring agencies, laboratories and sampler integrators.

What Is a PM2.5 Low Volume Cyclone?
The PM2.5-LV-CYC is the size-selective element of a low volume sampling train. It sits at the head of the train, in ambient air, and passes only particles with an aerodynamic diameter of 2.5 micrometres or less down to a 47 mm filter cassette. The body measures 165x157x65 mm and weighs 1.0 kg, so it mounts on a standard inlet tube or tripod without additional support structures.
Two cut options are available: the SCC standard cyclone cutter and the VSCC very sharp cut cyclone cutter. Both share the same mounting, and both are machined from aluminum alloy and clear anodized.
How the Cyclone Works
Air is drawn into the body and forced to spin through an internal cone. Larger particles gain enough inertia to be thrown against the wall and are removed from the stream, while the finer fraction stays in suspension and exits downward as elutriated air. That air is then carried through the inlet tube to the filter cassette, where the PM2.5 mass is collected for gravimetric or chemical analysis.
Where It Is Used
Typical users are environmental protection agencies, ambient air monitoring networks, universities and research institutes, and integrators building low volume samplers for tender projects. The cutter is also used for exposure assessment, indoor air investigations and the validation of low-cost sensor networks, wherever the PM2.5 fraction has to be captured on a filter.
Both cut types share the same mounting and the same inlet tube connection, so the choice between SCC and VSCC is made when the order is placed and does not change the way the sampler is assembled or operated. Cleaning intervals follow the dust load at the site rather than the cutter itself.
Packing, Shipping and Warranty
Each cyclone is packed in its own 19x18x9 cm carton with foam protection. Units ship from stock under ERP number 98082-000-400, which keeps lead times short for replacement orders and pilot installations. A three year warranty applies, and OEM packing or custom engraving can be arranged for volume projects.
A Sharper 2.5 Micrometre Cut Point
A cyclone separates particles by centrifugal force instead of impaction, and that produces a steeper collection efficiency curve near the cut point. The fraction that reaches the filter therefore matches the PM2.5 definition more closely, which is valuable when results have to be compared with a reference method or with data from another station.
SCC and VSCC Versions to Match the Method
The PM2.5 cyclone is offered as an SCC standard cyclone cutter and as a VSCC very sharp cut cyclone cutter. Buyers working to an established protocol can order the version their method names, and integrators can stock both so that one purchase order covers several tender specifications.
Fits the Top of a Low Volume Train
The cutter mounts at the head of the train in ambient air and delivers the elutriated air downward through the inlet tube to a 47 mm filter cassette. At 165x157x65 mm and 1.0 kg, it adds little load to the inlet tube or the tripod, and it will not disturb the balance of an existing sampling assembly.
No Greased Plate to Service
Because there is no impaction plate, there is nothing to re-grease between runs and no grease carry-over to consider. Cleaning is a matter of wiping the machined interior, which shortens field work and reduces the chance of operator error. The clear anodized aluminum body tolerates repeated wiping without losing its surface.
Manufacturer Supply and OEM Options
T4 AIR SAMPLER machines and anodizes the cyclone body in our own Foshan facility, so buyers deal with the producer rather than a trading house. OEM requests for engraving, alternative alloys and private-label cartons are welcome, and units ship from stock under a three year warranty.
